Do these celebrity magazines annoy you?

Well every time I see a picture of a WAG or someone off reality tv posing on the front of a magazine it gets on my nerves - why do people buy these magazines? I suppose if you have problems of your own and you hear about people that are loaded with worse problems then it kinda makes you feel better about yourself. But should we really care about what is going on in these famous peoples lives? should we not just care about our own lives? Let me know what you think!

  1. I agree completely.  Unfortunately, the masses are easily entertained and distracted!

  2. I don't like O.K or any "Teen Mag" e.g,Shout..there c**p i prefer Vouge!!! x

  3. well i like to know what my celebrity is up to has i have followed and supported him quite a long time, its not because i want to be nosey just curious and other celebrities i am never interested in. what they do. and i do care about my life a great deal.

  4. well, i like most people like to read the front page while standing in line at the stores.  get kinda tired of seeing the same faces.   i never pay for them.  sometimes my sister buys them and gives them to me when she's finished.  I know i am a cheep scape.

  5. They are such a bittersweet thing. I HATE them.. but  i cant stop reading them! It's like they are a presidential candidate.. I don't and never will believe in what they stand for.. but i sit there and listen to ever speech they present with open eyes and ears...ah well...

  6. It doesn't bother me. I ignore them and I don't buy them.

  7. It's all bread and circuses, isn't it? By providing entertainment - i.e. a skewed spotlight on celebrity lifestyles - many people are distracted from real issues.

Corporations will always choose to distract rather than inform. As long as people are fed (bread) and entertained (circuses in Roman times (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_c... but in our day and age, mass media), the idea is that the populace will be largely happy. We're being suckered.

Hmm, perhaps this answer was a bit heavy. I'm sure the people who work on these magazines don't think that way, they're just doing their jobs... vacuous though the final product of those jobs is.

  8. i agree. those mags are a waste of paper, time and money
