Do these work for the same thing?

ok i know it sounds weird but i have a camera cable for to transfer pics from my camera to my computer i tried it on my cell and it didn't charge it. would it charge the cell phone?? they have the same connection shaped spot just it isn't used to charge my camera

Short answer no, The cable you are speaking of is probably a USB type mini B. Most device's use this port for data transfere only, mainly because there is just no enough power for it to charge off USB.
