  1. they usually scan ur passport, cos it has a barcode in it, if ur passport is  valid, then it should be ok, when they scan it, it will go on record that u left the country and should let u back with the same passport when they scan it again and should crossmatch the barcode when u went out. If not, then head straight 4 the American embassy.

  2. going across the border they will only check your name and photo, but they will 100% check it coming back. I am not for sure if the numbers are the same, but the american immigration has scanned mine every time I have crossed back into the united states

  3. When you got your new passport, it had a NEW number and the old one was deactivated...so you cannot use the old one.  It will be scanned.  If you are travelling by land...you do not yet need a passport, but if you are flying, you must have it.

  4. Yes, they scam it so u will get in good trouble is u use your old one, beside u are in a little trouble if u ask for a third passport, they might become suspicious of losing two passport and they will let u know that if u lose a third one u may lose the right for a passport for 5 years.

  5. Absolutely do not use an old passport. You could get in serious trouble.

You don't say if you are flying. If you are flying you absolutely need a new passport. you have no choice but to suck up the fees for getting one quickly.

If you are driving and you don't have a valid passport, you need proof of citizenship. A driver's license is not enough anymore. The rules only changed in January 2008. The most commonly accepted document is a copy of your birth certificate.

Please look for your new passport. If you are satisfied that it is truly lost, you should report it. You don't want to find that it is being used for illegal activities.
