  1. was it the stanely cup that broke over the weekend or another cup

i know that one was a replica for sure, however if that was not the stanely cup, i could not tell you. i would guess that they probably don't. :) wish i could help more. sorry

  2. I think the original one is kept in a vault.

  3. Is this a serious question?

  4. .It's a REPLICA...& all you hockey fans---...this is unbelievable I know, but this cup is a replica...and the real cup is in a vault (like the man said)!  I love what the Answerer said about the blow-ups being given to all the winners on the winning team---unfortunately he thought it was the real Cup.

Check the link out below...interesting facts for everyone!

  5. The original Cup bought by Lord Stanley is in the Hall of Fame in Toronto in a glass case inside a vault. At night, the vault is locked with motion, laser, and thermal sensor alarms guarding it. The only thing that's missing is some big, burger-eating dude named "Tiny" sitting outside 24/7. So, the one won in the coming week and a bit is a replica. It was made in 1933, I think...

  6. They get the current real Stanley cup. There are three cups, the original cup donated by lord Stanley, which has been retired because it is too brittle, The exact copy of that cup that is the 'real' cup- all the barrel rings are the originals- the neck is not, it's also been retired due to being too brittle.

There is also a replica travel cup, just used for display at the hall of fame when the real cup is away (which is often). There are no errors on the replica, no Xed out names, no misspellings.

The players are presented with the real cup. You can tell it's the right one because the seal of the hockey hall of fame is on the wood base. When they hoist the cup, look for it.

Edit: Beanie, that was not the Stanley cup. It has broken though, but never on the ice. The last time was after one of the 94 rangers partied too hard, they had to add a small ring of silver under the bowl to stabilize it.

It's also been dented and generally abused a lot....

  7. the real stanley cup. and it has quite a colorful history..

  8. Kind of both.

It is the official one and is given, but the actual cup (top part) from Lord Stanley is in the hockey hall of fame.

  9. To beanie:  The cup that broke this weekend was the Memorial Cup, which the Spokane Chiefs won.  The announcers tonight joked about it being in need of repair.

  10. They have multiple blown up ones and hand them out to all of the team members.

    Not.

Of course it's the real one!

  11. Yep they do they let the teams come all that way to sacrifice so much just so they can get a replica! they dont want they players swet to get on the cup

U KIDDIN ME no its the real deal they also let each player have a day to do anything they want with the cup ask yourself IS THAT THE REAL ONE

  12. i agree with Erin. Why would it be a replica?

EDIT: beanie, I don't think it was the Stanley. I believe it was a smaller championship trophy. (smaller meaning smaller league... it might be the same size trophy i don't know)

  13. The real one.
