  1. Most Monoprix stores in Paris have Oreos...regular and the double chocolate kind.  They come in a small box and cost around 2.80 a box.  Outrageous!  To answer your question - they are somewhat  rare and but not impossible to find.

For Peanut butter, most big grocery stores have imported brands like Jif but you're going to pay well over 3 euros for a small jar.  Not rare or hard to find, just not a big selection.

Now, if you want everything just like at home but at 3 to 5 times the price, try one of the American stores like the Real McCoy or Thanksgiving.  They have everything for a price!

  2. Oreos are an unknown species in France, peanut butter comes only in one kind and isn't very popular, it is used mostly for cooking exotic meals.

  3. yes they have peanut butter its called buerre de cacaut. thats not spelled right tho. i don't think they have oreos

  4. Where I was in France, the only peanut butter they had was expensive, and it was similar to the organic peanut butter we have in the states- very gritty, not very oily. They prefer Nutella, which is a hazelnut spread that can also be found here and there in the US. They thought peanut butter was disgusting.

As far as Oreos go, the French don't eat cookies, so Oreos were non-existant everywhere that I was.

  5. The French aren't fond of peanut butter but it can be found in big grocery stores (sometimes in a special "foreign foods" section) although only in very small jar sizes.

I don't actually recall seeing Oreos but then I wouldn't have been looking for them. Rest assured there is an excellent selection of cookies made in Europe.
