  1. Yes there are a lot...just came back from one!;-) Here it's called 'Trödelmarkt' or 'Flohmarkt'. When they sell antique stuff they are also called 'Antikmarkt'! there are often inside car boot sales too and kids clothes bazaars (Kinderkleiderbasar).

  2. Apart from flea markets, there is something called "Sperrmüll": this is when people put old furniture and flea market-type articles out on the street in the evening for collection in the early morning.

It's quite common and perfectly acceptable for private individuals to tour the streets at night and pick off the more serviceable items before the collection vans come.  There is a lot of pure rubbish put out, but occasionally it's possible to make a real find, and it's at least as entertaining as going to a car boot sale.  You need a torch for best results; street lighting in Germany is ecologically friendly ;)

Local councils (the "Stadt" / the "Rathaus" / the "Bürgeramt") can give info on when Sperrmüll collection is in a given town / part of town.

  3. I believe that you arfe talking about 'flea markets'.  If you are,

    ask someone local about 'flohmarkts'.

  4. flohmarkts dont exist..

    Flohmarkt-singular-

    Flohmärkte-plural-
