I know it's a stupid question, but I need to know and it's a pretty crappy reason why I'm asking. I need to know though. The kid didn't have many friends back in the states because he lied so much about trivial and ridiculous things. He joined the army to have people not hate him anymore. Anyways here's the reason why I want to know if the soldiers have access to AIM and facebook--

The kid always IMs us and says how he's probably going to die in the next week or so and goes on facebook and tells everybody that he's gonna die for us to feel bad for him that he's in the army. I mean I respect you a ton for doing it, but I'm nearly positive they don't have computers with AIM for soldiers to go on in Iraq during a war. I believe he's station in a different state somewhere.

  1. Facebook (frequented by officers) is accessible as is AIM. You tube and My Space are not accessible on dod computers. You can buy your own internet subscription and use them though.

YOu need to get over this kid. Who cares what he does? Just delete him from your friends if it annoys you. Don't try to challenge him on military stuff though if you've never been in yourself. That's just catty.

  2. Yes I know people actually stationed in Iraq right now and they do have access to the internet.  If you have his yahoo or other free email account (should have one already) then you can email them.  My friend has myspace and email and is always online posting.

Alot of bases have access to the internet.  So don't think he's elsewhere when he's probably acutally at war.

  3. There is internet on most of the big bases in Iraq, I know some websites are restricted and you are not allowed to disclose any information regarding missions etc. I used instand messaging to keep in touch with my family so it is possible to have access to it but I can't tell if that guy is lying or not.

  4. depends on your job and free time, some jobs you have to "share" computers with people and some high priority jobs like Rangers, Green berets, and etc. there given a computer personally for them to contact there familys. some jobs can check mail on the internet but usually wont have enough time to chat on IM or anything

  5. it depends where you are at in you Iraq, mosul and baghdad are pretty good with computers, some places even let you get internet right to your own personal computer.

  6. Yeah they do. My girlfriend's brother video chats with his family from Iraq. What a lame reason to join the army. People don't like me so I'll go kill someone in another country and people will like me. Instead of facing my problems and evolving my consciousness to a higher level so I can contribute to the greater good for all of humanity. (Though it's hard when you're depressed.) Seems like he wants attention if he's telling everyone he's going to die. Or at least trying to reach out for help. But I really admire you for trying to help him out. We need more people like you!

  7. WOW, what an idiot. you should post his facebook name or whatever so a bunch of us that have the been there done that card can hammer him for doing that and just trying to get attention.

However yes they have internet access and can sometimes even get unrestricted accounts in there rooms if they pay for it and there unit arranges / coordinates it as we did. Most Soldiers bring a laptop over there. If not there are places that you can go to get online.

PS you never know when your gonna die and if he is using that and acctually is over there, well I will drop it, dont feel sorry for him its his job and his chosen profession. I didnt want anyone to feel sorry for me in doing something I chose to do and enjoyed.
