  1. Yes sort of...its synchronized figure skating.  It's really cool!  In competition, my daughter figure skated individuals and my friend's daughter was on the Synchronized team.  Looked like a lot of fun!

  2. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but there are synchronized skating teams.

Looking them up on youtube.com to get an idea of what they are like.

Ice dancing is a slightly different beasty that has become popular lately.  So now you have single skaters, pairs skaters, and ice dancers.   And there are two ice dancers, too like in pairs skating and they would be considered a team...

I seem to remember someone saying that ice dancers never leave the ice like pairs and singles do for jumps and lifts.  I thought was kind of boring so I kind of left it on the back burner but now as a mom I kind of wish my kid didn't have to leave the ice and, more specifically, return to the ice with a bone jarring landing!

You could probably find ice dancing on youtube.com as well.

  3. They have ice skating pairs and ice dancing pairs. That's the most I've seen in competitions.

  4. The answer to that question can go a few ways......

Some schools have hockey cheerleaders....some are actually on skates and some are not....some actually stunt and others don't.  Some professional hockey leagues have actual dance teams, but they're usually on mats while dancing out on the ice, not on skates.

There is ice dance, which in simple terms is patterns performed on ice that are usually loosely based on ballroom dance-type music and moves that are done by a male and female skater.  There are no jumps or spins in dancing, and unlike pairs skating, there are very limited and low lifts.  Dance is very technical, but can still be a lot of fun to do and watch.

There is also synchronized skating, which is a dicipline of figure skating that's really gaining popularity (hopefully in the near future, it will be welcomed into Olympic competition).  Synchro is a small or large group of skaters (male and female together, but usually mostly female) performing together, usually in unison.  In synchro, there isn't really any jumping and very little spinning.  Synchro is also very technical.
