I am adding a roof to my finished deck to match the pitch of my house and I was wondering, Do they make a bracket to install one 4x4 onto another one that will be structural sound?

  1. Yes, but wind would/could be a problem. Unless you are going to surround the 4x4's with more lumber, I wouldn't advise using them.

  2. Yes they do. Its a multiuse Steel bracket that allows 4x4's to be joined together in different angles. This can be purchases at Home Depot or Lowes.

  3. YES, but your issue is more than just joining/butting 2 4 x 4's

While I can't imagine even attempting such, specifically in any code issues and certainly liability issues, why not just use the proper length 4 x 4's?

If you insist on this method your better course of action would be to "SISTER" some lumber to the butted 4 x 4's and I'll assume that would mess up your aesthetic notion.

  4. You need to go to your local Lowes/Home Depot and ask them...They can tell you what you need to do!!  Stop pretending to know what you're doing and just go ask them.  Or tell you wife to go and ask then once you have all the information...Go back in and then you can really pretend like you know what you're talkin bout...lol...Good Luck BAMMER!!!!
