  1. well some people are saying no, so my son who was in the army must have lied to us, because they made him write a letter home.


  2. Yes - you must write 1 letter home to let them know that you arrived and are safe. Other than that there is no requirement.

  6. At the beginning of the 2nd week when you get assigned to your platoon you will be required to mail a letter home (it can go to whoever you want) that states that you have arrived safely, who your DI is, and what your address is.

  7. no they don't make you write any letters to home...what if you don't have someone to write home to?  who are you going to write to..your neighbor?  

  8. When I went to USMC boot camp a year and a half ago, they made us call home to say we arrived safely right when we got there and then made us write a letter saying we arrived safely also.  

  9. in boot camp, Marines, yes.  They tell you exactly what to write.  It is basically an "I arrived safely" letter.

  10. When I went through USMC boot camp they sure did..Our first letter was mandatory and it was for our parents or guardians..
