Question:

Do they sell pianos that are easy to 'press'?

I remember back in school I tried to play the piano, but I couldn't play anything because you had to push so hard on the keys to make the sound (I used to play organ back then).

Are all pianos like this? Or just cheap ones?

  1. Well, I play piano and it doesn't seem like the keys are hard to press, though I think that how cheap they are does play a part (I own a grand). Maybe the reason you think that they are is because, in general, organ keys are a lot easier to press.

  2. you probably just need to work up some finger strength. But if you really want a piano with very easy action go to your local music store and try out as many as you can.If you don't need a real piano try a keyboard. They have unweighted keyboards that are very easy to press.

  3. Yes there are different "actions" Some prefer light action some stiff.  That is the classification that I know.

Most prefer something in the middle medium action.

You already have ruled out stiff action. Go to a piano dealer and ask to try piano's with lighter action.

If you are looking for a piano other than through a dealer, you are just going to have to try it out.
