The d**n lady in the post office took my birth certificate and stapled it and said it comes back in the mail with my new passport. I'm all paranoid I will not get it back now. >:-(

  1. Yes That's the way they do it. They will mail it back to you.

  2. You should get it back....however, what I have done is go to the appropriate state office (differs from state to state) and get an additional copy of by birth certificate (it will be a certified copy!) made so I have it in case of emergency!

  3. Just read the instruction page for passport application to see that it says your proof of citizenship will be returned to you.  See section under "2. Present Proof of U.S. Citizenship" on page below.

  4. You will/ should get it back. p.s. in the UK ALL new passport applicants have to do a face to face interview. Check out some of the passport sites for details where you live.

  5. Yes, they send it back.

The lady at the post office did what she was supposed to do.  That's how you apply for a passport.

But what's the problem anyway?  It's very easy to get a birth certificate; it's not like it's hard to replace or anything.  You can go get one right now in about 20 minutes.

  6. you usually get in 1-2 weeks after you recieve the passport. :)
