  1. That's like asking if "They" speak French in Fargo, North Dakota.

  2. My recommendation would be to make the effort to speak French there... even if you only learn how to say "Hello" (Bonjour), "please" (s'il vous plaît), "thank you" (merci), or, perhaps most importantly, "Do you speak English" (Parlez-vous anglais). When traveling abroad, it's always best to make an attempt to adjust to local ways rather than expecting people to adapt to you. If you adhere to that I predict you'll have a great time there.

  3. Do they speak french in Mumbay ????you are not going to go faraway with this kind of questions.................

  4. Le havre has connection boat with GB. a lot of people speak english.

There is University also where the student study english.

There is not a lot of tourists.

Some parts of le Havre are not so nice to go for the night.

It is nice because 2 hours with train to Paris.

The city was rebuit because world war. there is parck, swiming pool, theater, club, bar, schools,....

  5. le havre is not a touristic city.

About english, since ferries go to England, i think you can find some people (commercants) who speak english, but french people are not really courageous to speak english, particularly in provincial cities. Si i advise you to know th essential words to be understood

  6. Le Havre is not a touristic place as the city was completly destroyed during the second war and then rebuilt in a very modern way. But since the bridge over the Seine (it's a beautiful one) have been built, you can reach very nice and very touristic places as Honfleur (one of the most beautiful french harbour) and also Deauville (which is well know) and Cabourg. People are from my point of view very sympathic there.

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

From France and producing great efforts to answer you

  7. You will find that in most large cities there are many people who speak English.

In a recent poll, 16% of adult Frenchmen said they speak fluent English and more than half of all adults said they spoke at least some English.

Le Harve is not a major tourist attraction as much of the city was destroyed during World War II and the transatlantic passenger trade has largely been ended since the advent of jet aircraft.

  8. You may come across someone who does speak a little English, but really expect only to hear and communicate in French. Le Havre isn't really a touristy area but I found the people there to be quite nice and helpful...I mean I speak French but my brother doesn't...and the vendors didn't seem to mind when he asked for something in a mix of broken French and English.
