Do they understand Norwegian in Iceland?

Question

My friend is going to Iceland today and she is wondering if she can speak Norwegian there and if anyone would understand her. Or does she have to speak english?

The people in Iceland wouldn't understand Norwegian, unless they have learned it at school. And my experience is they wouldn't have. So English would be the language of communication.

yes, well, no we don't.. or well, we understand some norwegian at least most of us, but she will most likely get answered in english..
