  1. Yes and no.

A few years back, they made a law saying that everything had to be measured in grams and kilograms, but people are still allowed to label things in lbs and stones if they choose to.

Personally, I measure anything small in cms and metres, but distance in miles. Mix it all up a bit. If I'm trying to measure in inches, feet or yards, I have to mentally convert it to cms.

I weigh most things in grams, although I make 4x4 cakes in ounces (4 ounces of each ingredient)

Babies are weighed in pounds and ounces still, and we talk about adult weight in stones and pounds. Height is feet and inches, apart from on clothes labels where it's in cms. Confusing, no?

Most drinks you buy are measured in metric (millilitres and litres) but we have 10oz and 14oz glasses and beer is sold in pints or half pints- a pint being 568ml.

In summary, it's a bit mixed up

  2. both sorta, i use kilos n grams but my mum only uses pounds and ounces

so i guess it sorta depends on your age

  3. Not instead. Also.

  4. They kinda use both, but if you go to the market you still find a lot of pounds and ounces.

  5. They tried to make us....

But we held out....most of us are still imperial.

    Never will we be metricated!
