we, as a species, are not on any path...much less one to righteousness (for whom?). we can't agree on a Diety or lack there-of. most of us are too selfish to consider making the world a better place, we just want to make our little part the best we can for ourselves.

  1. I would say, if had a very bad time and after that you just had one moment that made you smile, you would feel as if your struggle with the bad time has been paid off  and thats why you've had this happy moment, But this situation was really normal there was nothing special in it.

This is all psychological some times somethings seems so special to you and if the same thing you are getting everyday it looses that importance of being so special, I mean you wont feel it special anymore

  2. One thing is for sure....history repeats itself

  3. Generally it is a human nature to be complacent and would do something when it is already worst.   Yes we are in any path, but that doesn't mean we are not in any growth.  We are in a University where in we can learn all sorts of topics and knowledge that the only limit is the capacity of our own mind to comprehend.

University doesn't rush us to graduate soon, though it would be ideal.  It is never judgmental and you can learn at your own phase and relearn if you have too.  Professors don't care if you call them as such, nor the Dean care if you flunk.  Education is free and all it is asking is for you to ask.

Misfortune is always a fortunate chance for anyone to rise up to the occasion to transcend.  And in this senseless world there is always sense only if we can comprehend.  Oh by the way, the name of the school is UNIVERSE.

  4. Things have been in a flux state between good times and bad times since the beginning of time.  The only difference now is you have the internet to keep tabs on all of it.

Try going with out TV, internet, news, etc for 3-days and just enjoy doing things.  You'll be suprised at how "good" the current moment feels.

  5. The common wisdom is that the night seems darkest right before dawn.

It is really just a poetic breakdown of the law of polarity, which means all material conditions swing back and forth from one opposite to another.

Things will always get better before they get worse, and worse before they get better, depending on which way the pendulum is swinging.

    That's material nature for you.

  6. You got it

everytime we attempt to better the world someone shoots us down or comes along and tells us how dare we consider ourselves to know what is better

    it's called survival

  7. "Getting better" depends upon what "worse" you're coming from.  It's all about perspective, and how you look at the situation.  Are you being pessimistic, realistic, or optimistic?  I tend to be realistic, with leanings toward pessimism or optimism depending on the topic.

As for my view on the state of the world today, and our future:

    - Realistically - Blame the politicians, polluters, or whoever you'd like, but humans have brought it upon ourselves.  We take the earth, it's resources, our species' superiority, etc for granted.  We, as a majority, seem to prefer the "shoot now, question/compromise later" approach to various situations... I'll stop there, since it's all been said before and you get the point.

    - Optimistically - At least we're not in the middle of another world war and are sensible enough not to blow Earth to smithereens or somehow make it one bug nuclear ball of waste.  *knock on wood*  There are enough people (at the moment) who see the best way to handle today's world.  Everything happens for a reason, and God will take care of me in the end.

  8. Things have always been getting worse and they will continue to do so AND they have at the same time been getting better and will continue to do so.  It is the nature of the beast, or better said maybe,  the nature of the Universe.

    All is well indeed.  Cheers!

  9. I think it is a mixed bag.

When you talk about WORSE and BETTER, good and bad, whose standard are you using?

I think we (as a species) take steps to a freer society and take steps toward more wars at the same time.

We take steps to understand each other and steips to pay off corrupt leaners in the same day.

I don't think a species can be on a path-except to its extinction or ultimate overrunning of the earth.

Even this is a mixed bag. We are populating the earth at an astounding rate and also use more birth control than ever.

I think the response to an increasingly confusing and out-of- our-control world to insulate ourselves and lash out at others is a recipe for destruction.

I believe the answer to this situation is the opposite:  Recognize that we are on the one world we all share. Recognize that we are ABLE to take care of it and each other, if we can overcome our prejudices and selfishness and DO IT.

Recognize that money is being wasted on war, big government, oppressive laws and lawsuits and in bureaucracy that COULD just as easily be used for baby-sitting poor women's kids, drug rehab, universal health care, education and -why not? free food and subway tokens for everyone on Tuesdays.

When you make your little corner of the world better, it is like a stone in the water--it ripples--if you do not abuse others to get yours.

Go ahead, make your life better, the world needs more happy people.

  10. It's like physics and inertia where a thing stays at rest until a force is applied. Until people feel a direct force against them, like getting pushed or hit directly, it's difficult to get any movement. Then there's the poisons in our foods, like fluoride, Aspartame, MSG, that stupefies us, along with TV that puts everyone into an illusion of "everything is alright" and hypnotizes you in their subliminal messages and boob tube frenquencies.

  11. Few people change their patterns according to rational rules. It usually takes trauma.

  12. people have always been the same throughout history. Its human nature.Good and bad. I think we are more aware now because of the media. There is a continuous increase in population. We are just more dangerous now. Actually, we are the worst virus on the earth. That's what I think.

  13. yup, read the bible.

  14. before any rainbow, you must have thunder and rain

  15. You CAN decide wether things go good or bad, if you tend to be more on the bad side of things, I would say you have poor decision making & if you have trouble handling your situation then I think your weak minded.

Now if things just go good for you, then I would say your an opptamistic person.

  16. Define getting better? Define worse? Worse than what?

I happen to think these are the best of times.

    Worse - better mean nothing.

If I could drag someone from their grave to talk too at will we could ask who has it worse or better.

Talking to a US soldier who died in Germany during WWII about the Iraq war, who had it worse? Better?

Asking an English citizen from 1752 living in Virginia who has it better or worse?

Asking a African who has just been sold by his tribal elders for tea and beads is traveling on a Dutch slave trading ship to the Caribbean Islands who has it better or worse?

Better or Worse? Relative to what?

For most of us history starts the day we become aware of it. You can always tell soemthing about a person by how bad they think they ave it in life.

Typically, (especially in the US) they have no clue about "Worse".
