  1. nope... it's a lot cheaper there... something like 40 of their dollars equal 1 of ours....

  2. i was in mexico city/puebla last november, i found things were generally cheaper*

(*cheaper than ireland, but we get ripped off for Everything here!)

    x*x

  3. yes

less price = less quality, though

  4. Electronics, appliances and clothing cost more. you can find good prices on electronic and appliances if you sho carefully.  computers and digital cameras are twice the price of the same ones in the U.S.  Clothing, especially childrens costs more...but there are big markets with used and new clothing called tianges where many people shop.  Groceries...bread, canned goods, paper towels, etc. are about the same as in the states.  Fruits and vegetables can be MUCH cheaper, esp at the little stores and mercados.  Salaries are 1/10th what they are in the U.S....so shopping is difficult for many families.  People are happier with less...they do not have huge wardrobes or lots of toys if they are poor or lower "middle class."  And.. 100 pesos equals about .....$10.60. BUt, rents,  utilities, and services cost much less.

  5. depends on what part of mexico

  6. I heard that shopping in supermarkets and at fast food places such as McDonald's are more expensive that shopping at traditional stores.

  7. It depends where you go, If you go to an americanized part, then its not cheap at all.

  8. No, it is alot cheaper.  If you go shopping, outside of the resorts, you can barter with the workers.  They need to make a living but they have their stuff higher than it should be.  I have always been able to barter down the price when I go shopping there.  My favorite place to shop is Playa Del Carmen.  They have amazing souvenirs and I stop there every year I am there.

  9. if you buy food, yes :D like chicken lard

    food FAT

  10. If you are in a vacation spot ... No things cost less...They are also selling things  cost less to make... Jewels useually fall apart... blankets are very cheap but smell like hemp or rope although they are verl lovely in looks.... So take a good look before you buy.. enjoy..... we do not have prices like that here in michigan...

  11. NO it is cheaper.  I bought a glass and marble chess set for like 20 bucks.  You can negotiate with the peeps too.  THey need $ bad so if they offer 10 ask for like 7 or 8 if they say no then walk away they will follow you.

  12. It truly does depend on where you go. If you are in the city in an tourist populated community then expenses are going to be higher, but in other rural parts of Mexico things are cheaper. To me it seems their gov. is backwards. You can get a 13ft. fridge for only $400 American dollars, but yet a 2 litter Pepsi is $4.00 American dollars. The more the product is needed the more expensive it is. Go figure. You are more likely to be able to save up and buy a fridge, but never have the money to fill it up, hehe.

  13. I found that shopping in Monterrey the food is very expensive at the grocery store.  Clothing and other items were basically reasonable.
