Do think $50,000 a year for a single person is good money?

Yes! as long as you manage well your finances believe it or not your GOOD Financially. THINK LONG TERM...... I make around the same with 2 kids plus pets and I manage to live well and strech my every dollar! Invest some $$ everyone and consider it lost money so you can retire by 40 or so.

to live on and is just plainly a good amount, I say 50,000 is a decent living.

It all depends on where you live and the cost of living.  Believe it or not, where I live, $50,000 is considered "low" income, but decent if you can stretch your money.  It is harder to live on $50,000 in say, San Francisco or New York than it would be in the Midwest.
