Do think Sharia law or secular law should be applied to a country?

Just doing a survey to find out how many here are keeping up with time and supports freedom of religion

Shari'ah(Islamic Law) is the "centerpiece and backbone of the religion of Islam." It is based on the Qur'an & Sunnah(Ahadith) and also sometimes Ijma' & Giya's are two important article of ' Islamic Law '.

Shari'ah is not something that changes , its something that is firmly fixed.The problem is Implementing !!

Some of the sharia regulations/laws implemented by all these people, can be very unjust & make life difficult thus unIslamic !!

So the Problem is None of the Islamic Countries  Following Sharia Law So u Dont Have to Worry about it !

Civic law should not be tied to religion, but should espouse morals that reflect the majority of society within a given country.  Therefore only secular law should be applied, so long as it reflects society's and more importantly God's values.

Shariah Laws if enforced, keeps the life of people more peaceful  because the severe punishments of Shariah laws deter peopole from

comitting crimes.  Shariah Laws are for Muslims from God. Those

believe in God Laws, do not disobey God's laws.  It is difficult to

understand the concept of Shariah Laws  who are not Muslims and have no faith in God almighty  whom Muslims call Allah.

subhanAllah. there is NO man made law system that is better than one that is created and sent by Allah. when people talk of "freedom" another sister has already pointed it out, that means people are wicked, and the US is a perfect example. everyone is depressed, the women all have eating disorders and feel that they have to impress every male because look what you see on tv.. its absolute garbage. if all of this is balanced and kept in check by a real law system, the women are made to cover and keep honestly in a more pious state, there will be less problems in society as a whole. look at sarah palin's daughter theyre the "new leaders" or will be soon, and she cant even run her own household, her 17 year old daughter is pregnant. theres freedom for u.

In my opinion, neither are practiced with anything close to fairness and consistency.

It would be a good thing if our governments actually had our wellbeing as their main concern, Unfortunately as is made abundantly clear by reading a newspaper or watching the news, they do not.

The shariah practiced throughout the muslim world today isn't the shariah of the sahaba ra. And civil or secular law is no better since the governments choose the judges who interpret the laws they make.

The only answer is to live our lives as best we can and follow the laws both divine and those made by the country we live in and let Allah swa be the judge.

First of all Sharia Law *is* compatible with democracy - study it yourself and see how it works.

second, there is no country in the middle east that doesnt let people practice their religions. even the intolerant saudi arabia has built a church. I have been to many of the middle eastern countries myself, and I see people of all religions living in harmony.

Edit: And who said the Saudi Arabia is following the correct version of Sharia Law? There are many laws in SA that claim to be Sharia but actually have no basis according to the Quran or authentic Hadiths.

That's a tough one to answer.

The instant answer that comes to mind is Shariah.  But then I recoil in my own statement for I know how Islam is used and abused by those in power.  Beautiful Shariah will definitely be another tool in their hands to suppress opposition, trample on civil rights and force one's own point of view or interpretation on everybody else.

Shariah civil law is already enforced in many countries because people willingly accept it.  But Shariah criminal code is subject to controversy due to the varying interpretations of crimes and their penalties.

P.S.: Shariah supports freedom of religion

P.S:  Saudi Arabia is a joke of a Muslim country that has one set of laws for the royal family (what law?),

one for the Saudis (naughty boy!),

one for non-Saudis (how dare you?),

one for non-Arabs (~bring out the sword~)

and one for non-Muslims (swish!)

11- Sharia according to Ahmedis.

If according to Quran, then I am all out for it.

If you say according to Hadith, then THUMBS down, for ANYONE you choose.
