  1. You would think the CIA could afford better trucks.

  2. Yes.......................

Mexican truck drivers are frequently attempting to cross into the U.S. border zone without valid driver licenses or even with no licenses and logbooks.

  3. If commercial motor vehicles are entering into this country and expect to use our highway system, then I think they should pass safety inspections to ensure they meet the same qualifications as do those from within this country. I also believe a permit system identifying those out-of-country vehicles as having passed such an inspection could avoid much confusion should they be stopped inland.

  4. As someone who works in the heavy transportation industry, I see day to day the condition of highway tractors.  Very few in an overall sense are kept in mint condition.  In the company I work for we have both company and owner-operated vehicles.  The company owned are scrutinized each time they return to our yard from the highway, as well as serviced at regular 12,000 mile intervals.  Sometimes, in any given month a unit may be looked at a half-dozen times.  This is not the case with owner-operators who are mandated by the government (Canada) to have safety inspections done every six months.  My company requires an additional two inspections bringing the total to four, or every three months.  The condition of some of these units are atrocious and dealt with accordingly.  I think, when it comes to Mexican trucks they should be treated with extreme scrutiny and subject to the same level of DOT inspections, no exceptions.  If they can pass these then okay.  If not, bag 'em and tag 'em.  One strike and you are out, period.

  5. I think Mexican trucks should be kept out for financial reasons. It's all about money. They work cheap and freight companies can make more money using Mexican trucks.

  6. Have you ever seen some of those Mexican dray trucks? They look like they are held together with rubber bands and chewing gum! I think the Mexican trucks should cross into the states (so our drivers don't have to go into Mexico and go through the border crossing) and drop their trailers within a 10 mile radius of the border where an American carrier can pick up and deliver the load.

  7. We should keep you out of America for safety reasons.

    I'm not joking.

  8. That sounds good. Never wanted to enter Mexico myself, as a driver I mean, too dangerous.
