They always show that Home Depot commercial with their workers "competing" in the Olympics. Do they really work in Home Depot? Huh? I don't get it. So after the Olympics, they'll go back to working in Home Depot?

  1. A lot of Olympic sports dont pay enough to allow athletes to make it their full time job

  2. I think that may be their day job, but I think HD gives them as much time off as they need so they can train.

  3. Yes they work at Home Depot part time to support their training..  Home Depot helps them in other ways too.  You can read here for all the details http://corporate.homedepot.com/wps/porta...

Whether they continue to work there probably varies.  The jobs are there if they want them or need them.

  4. Yep.  I had Michael Phelps bag my groceries last year at a Walmart, i yelled at him when he put the bread in first and my canned soups on top.

  5. Yes they do. They work 20 hours a week but receive pay for 40 hours and they get full-time benefits.

Yeah, I know - doesn't really sound kosher but...

Some of the rest of us are lucky to get off the time we request in advance depending on store management.

  6. You know, I thought about this too. I don't know about you, but my Home Depot is having a hard time keeping employees because they pay minimum wage, only will give them part time, and it costs 3.89/gal of gas to get to work. Last time I was in there, it took me 15 min to find someone to help me. So ????

  7. America is the only nation that provides little or no funding for their Olympic athletes. Yet America is there to share in the glory as these athletes get their medals.

Home Depot, at least does something for athletes that work there. These Olympic athletes work 20 hours, train 20 hours and get paid 40 hours of pay.

Yes I know that Home Depot pay is not very good. Guess this corporation spends all its money handing out ridiculous golden parachute packages worth 100's of millions to its retiring CEOs (which is very wrong for a publicly traded company). But it does do a little something for some athletes.

  8. Home Depot Sponsors Olympic athletes and pays them a salary.  This has been Home Depots policy in order to help the United States compete countries that maintain pernament Olympic teams.  In exchange for a few days of work a year they are paid around 60 thousand a year.  Home Depot is the largest employer of Olympic athletes and rivals other countries.

The owner of Home Depot does not believe that countries like China should not have unfair advantages.
