  1. Yes, they do help for allergy and asthma sufferers. The anti-allergy bed pads help to keep a barrier between the mattress and the person sleeping. Dust mites live in the mattresses and there isn't much we can do about that besides create a barrier. I use a allergy and asthma mattress case with a zipper (like a huge pillowcase) on my daughter's bed and also one on her pillow. It is also important to wash your sheets often to prevent mites in your sheets.

  2. Copper:  A pad won't work.  It needs to be a zippered cover that covers all sides and zips up.  They work like a charm.  I have my mattress and all of my pillows covered.  Because my bed doesn't have a boxspring, I don't need a cover for that.  I have one of the lined ones on my mattress and the unlined ones are on my pillow.

I wash my sheets every week in this special de-mite stuff and it makes the difference between spending half of my day sick and getting up out of bed and hitting the ground running.  Some other things to do in the bedroom are to remove things that catch dust and to put an air cleaner in.  I'll give you a link to the place that I got my covers and where I buy my demite washing stuff.  Some of my covers are at least 8 or 9 years old, so they last.
