Do those curly light bulbs really save energy, did you really notice a difference in your electric bill?

Considering switching to those. Between the mortgage and consumers, man it's bad!

Yes they do, i have all the lights in my house curley, 5 of them take energy for 1 regular one =]

I agree with William L.  They are dangerous and unhealthy.  The mercury in them isn't safe (google the clean-up procedures for if you break one of them and you'll see).  Also, read the book "Health and Light" by Ott.  Fluorescent light isn't healthy for anyone.

I will not use any compact fluorescent light bulbs in my home.

1. they are extremely dangerous if they break. They contain mercury, and you almost have to have a haz mat team come in and clean up the mess.

2. Fluorescent light bulbs are VERY bad for the eyes and nervous system. Navy seals are order to spend as little time around fluorescent light bulbs as they possibly can.

As soon as LED bulbs are reasonably priced; I will switch to LEDs and let the fluorescent light bulbs go the way of the dinosaurs.

I have a few, but they are so dim it is really difficult to see very well.  I like saving energy, but it would be nicer to be able to see as well.  I can't read or sew by them, so I have to have a couple of bulbs that are higher wattage.  I don't know if I am saving money or not, I have an electric stove, dryer, and heat, so probably a few bulbs is not going to really make a difference for me!  LOL.

I tried one, and it disconnected on me. and I saw wires. Just be careful. I heard from so many people that they save on your bill. Can't say I know if it's true or not. Hope it works for ya, because yeah some people are looking at a grand or close to it for mortgage and consumers alone!! The two of mine are over a grand!! (SAD)!!

They do make a difference.  

They cost more to buy, but they last longer, create less heat, and use less energy to run.

Use them if you can.
