Does anyone know of any other methods that I can do to improve my mileage? ie-filter changes, etc.

  1. Some of those are supposed to help keep the injectors and intake system clean ( which does help in fuel economy ) but don't expect any miracle cures.

Filter changes do help as well.  Driving on a dirty air filter for example does cut down on your fuel mileage so it does help to maintain your vehicle properly.

The single biggest difference you can make is your driving style.  Learn to anticipate traffic flow so you can coast instead of brake for example.  Drive during less busy times if possible ( to cut down on stop n' go type of driving ) and consolidate your trips as well.  Also try to keep to the speed limit and use the cruise control ( if equipped ) when traffic conditions allow.

  2. your talking about fuel injection cleaner? it helps to keep the injectors clean. you can keep your gas filter changed and that will help also.

  3. If they actually worked, wouldn't they just include them with the gas already?  Same with all of the other fuel saving gadgets.  If they were the miracle they claimed to be, wouldn't they already be built into the cars?

You can do a few simple things to improve your millage.

1 make sure your tires have the correct pressure

2 make sure your air filter is clean

3 remove any excess weight you may be hauling around

4 make sure your front end is properly aligned

5 make sure your spark plugs are clean and without wear

  4. some will work, some don't, most have no more affect than buying pricey gas... and cost as much too.

    improve gas mileage...

    1.  synthetic oils.  it lubricates better, reducing friction and drag and will increase fuel economy.

    2.  hi flow air filter.  people who don't think they work also don't think aftermarket turbos work... but they still do.  more air= better burn= more power and efficiency.

    3.  lose weight.  in the car, take out anything you don't need...  some people (hypermilers) will even take out extra seats (to include the passenger one), jack, spare, headliner and carpet... i wouldn't go that extreme, but taking the sand you use in the winter out for summer use is a good idea.  oh, and if you lose wieght personally you will burn less gas.  every hundred pounds is good for .5-1 mpg around town.

    4.  keep tires inflated.  low pressure a little for every 3 lbs you are low.  never run below manufacturers recommendation or 32 lbs, whichever is HIGHER.

    5.  keep your car tuned.  worn out plugs and wires are costing you.

    6.  drive more smoothly, fast starts and stops are costing you gas.  you can save up to 80 gallons a year just on that one.  (280 dollars at current prices)

    7.  slow down.  all cars sold in the US are optimized b/w 55 and 60 mph.  anything faster is burning extra gas, 2-3 mpg per 5 miles per hour so if you're doing 80 you're losing 10+ mpg
