  1. Are you talking about a manual-push reel mower?  I just mowed my little patch of lawn and it worked great!  And I didn't annoy any of my neighbors with a loud engine noise.

  2. They are a lot of work pushing them, it's like you're back in the early 1900's. Keep 'em sharp and they'll cut!

  3. the push type that i think you are talking about work really well as long as the blades are sharp and they have good reel to bedknife contact.

  4. If you are referring to the reel mowers that are powered by the turning of the wheels, and thus your muscles, sure, they do work, and well.  They are especially good since they cut like scissors, not like a (usually dull) scythe, like most rotory engine mowers.

However, keep a few things in mind.  Decent ones are fairly heavy.  They are not good at cutting tall grass, nor wet grass, nor some weeds.  If you can mow fairly often, and your grass is mostly weed-free, go for it.

  5. liker the old ones you push??? ya they work but can be a pain you have to keep the blades sharp but its fun i use one at my place ( have a tiny yard)
