Do tomatoes that fall off the stem green ever turn red?

We have a tomato garden and a couple of them fell off of there branch prematurely, will they ever turn red, or should we though them away?

  1. if they are over about half is size for maturity...they will probably turn red  ..if not knowing how they ended up falling off ...best to throw them away...

No if they are bruised or cut or have a soft spot.  They'll rot first.  Otherwise Yes, especially if there is a hint of yellow, ie.  they've started to ripen.  You could put them in a brown paper bag.  Leave them in a cool dry place -- do not put them in direct sunlight.  Check them often just in case they go bad.   It's a long shot, but it may be OK.

  5. Yes, they will. Just set them on a counter (the like a window) and they will turn. But they are delicious thinly sliced green and lightly coated with milk and flour, or meal (look online for the tons of recipes for Fried Green Tomatoes), and fried like potato chips. YUM! A real treat!  

  6. i grow them every year and i've never ripeed a tomato off of the vine.
