  1. Yes, if the existence of diploma mills is any indication.

Even if one's degree is legit, it hardly means they are competent and well-informed regarding fields outside of their primary focus of study. I am an engineer that is weak in the liberal arts and hence will have to draw on other resources to supplement the few courses I will take in those areas.

  2. Dont agree with any of these views.

An Educated human need not necessarily have any strings behind his name.

An Educated human is one whos is worldly wise, cultured and civilised; apt to accept his or her mistakes and overall be polite.

  3. A degree is one way to show employers that you're able to stick with something and complete it. It doesn't matter how much you know or how educated you are outside of your field. Education simply does not matter in when looking at it in these terms. Someone who knows more or is more competent hasn't proven themselves to employers when they've self educated.

  4. I completely agree. School is relatively easy to complete by putting in the minimum and getting nothing out of it, but employers place far too much emphasis on the piece of paper rather than the individual.

  5. Yes! they do!!!

Although, rightfully so as there is an assumption made that, if you complete a degree program, you SHOULD be educated. Really does depend on the school.
