Do tornadoes form in florida? and if so what parts?

  1. Tornadoes can occur any where in the US including Florida. Tornadoes have occurred in FL before.  Tornadoes are more likely during tropical storms/hurricanes making landfall.

  2. Since Florida is a coastal state, it is more likely that you would experience a hurricane or a tropical storm. As for specific locations I'm not sure.

  3. Tornadoes do occur in Florida, but 80% of then are usually off the Coast in the form of water spouts. In order to get a true tornado, you need severe thunderstorms.

  6. yes they do occur. its rare but yes it happens. it happened in Jacksonville few times and around Gainesville. I live in Jacksonville and around Gainesville when i went to college.

  7. sure do. we certainly get tornadoes. most are F zero and F-1 tornadoes. they are very commin in squall lines associated with hurricanes. occasionally we will see one with an isolated super-cell

  8. Tornadoes can form any where in Florida especially if a thunderstorm is severe enough. Tornadoes also form in some hurricanes.
