As others have answered, tornadoes can happen any where.  I used to think that living in a larger city that one would be safer than in a smaller town or in the country.  If you recall, tho, downtown Nashville was hit with a pretty good sized twister, Chicago, and the list goes on.  Pay attention to watches and warnings and take cover if a warning is issued for your area.
