  1. NO!!!!!!!!!! most railroads have the same trains that run everyday, but with adding extras and unknown delays a train is never ever in the same place as it was the day before, due to delays and extra trains, sometimes the railroad doesnt even have a crew to put on a scheduled train and it will set for hrs just waiting on a rested crew

  2. A fairly large number of freight trains did run on a schedule at one time, lasting up until the mid 1970s. Trains that ran on a scheduled were called "regular" trains. Trains that did not run on a schedule were called "extra" trains.

Though they no longer run on a time table schedule, certain trains, such as piggy back trains or other expedited freight trains, will run at nearly the same time each day. They are usually run "on time" out of the terminal that they originate, but once under way, they are sugject to many of the same delays that the non-expediters experience, with the exception that they are usually given right over opposing non-expeditied traffic.

  3. Sounds like you would know better than I do...living near the train tracks and all...

but the train schedule would know best

  4. I live by the Sutton Park freight-only line.

The timings seem random to me.

  5. Most services run on a 'regular interval' these days, i.e. at the same times throughout the day - timetables may say 'trains for Blacktown leave here at  xx05xx and xx35 from 9.05 until 21.35'. In the UK no trains run the full 24 hours though - except the Underground on New Years Eve/Day. Trains will run more often in city areas, less often on longer distance services.

  6. No way have you tried catching a train ,they are very rarely on time  and never run on time .

  7. No.  But we live near a train too and it isn't every hour on the dot.

  8. There may be exceptions but I think most trains do not have the same frequency all day/ night.

In my case for the trains I get they are more frequent during peak times 8-9am and 5-6pm and there are no trains between midnight and 6am.

However I am sure this is not the case for all trains and there will always be trains running.

  9. well, i guess that would depend on the train and the route. don't you think so?
