Question:

Do turtles shed their skin?

I know they shed their shells. The ones in question have been for a while but now they have a bit of hangy skin-like stuff on their legs. Looks the same as when aquatic frogs shed.

  2. Yes!

    I had a tortoise once,

and it had skin shedding off like crazy!

Don't yank if off them though,

    it'll hurt.

    :(

  3. interesting question idk but the other person who answered did i never knew that or thought about it but cool

  4. Yes and no.
Healthy turtles shed their skins, but the sheds are very thin, translucent, the tissue underneath looks healthy, and you rarely actually see it except as a brief period of shabbiness..
If the sheds look healthy, but is happening too often, it might be due to overfeeding or mild stress.

If the sheds are thick, things look bad underneath, etc., it is probably a skin problem like fungus or rot
Try the medical section of austinsturtlepage.com if there is a problem!

  5. Yes they do shed, but it is more like a peel. There are lotions and such you can rub on you turtles shell. Whats important to remember is not to pull on it. Turtles are usually all wet so we do not see it, but it is there. It is more visible in tortoises and box turtles. Good Luck

  6. actually yes they do

    but

    be careful

if it does go away after a few days and you see alot of it

    it has a fungal infection

which can be treated with sme home remedies or

turtle medicine you can buy at a pet store
