  1. They're sort of local celebrities, but I've only seen 3 of them in person. I'd probably recognize their voices on the street though ;).

  2. Ryan seacrest 93.1 fm

  3. I had the good fortune of doing a Morning Show on the radio for 7 years.  I can still remember the first person that came up to me while I was doing a live remote broadcast and asked for an autograph.  I could not understand how some celebs place themselves on such a higher level than their fans.  The way I saw it, if somebody took time out of their lives to talk to me, or ask me to sign something, I would go out of my way to make myself available to them.  My fans were really important to me.... They could have chosen any number of other shows to tune in to, but they picked mine....  That alone made me want to treat them the best that I could.

  4. yes, in my place the local radio djs is like a superstar. The can standing high as the famous singer or actor. The djs also receive an award for their performance.

  5. Ryan Seacreast on 102.7 kiis fm??

  6. Well, they are locally famous. Most people in your area that listen to the radio would know who they are, so yeah, I guess. I mean, they're more famous than most, lol.

  7. There is a celebrity factor to local jocks on popular stations in the big dayparts (mornings and afternoons; nights with young folks). Nothing along the lines of what Ryan Seacrest enjoys, but they can be considered "famous" on a local basis.

It's good for the occasional good table at a restaurant, better seats at a concert (though you usually still have to pay for them) and things like that. This was true during the '60s and '70s especially. Not so much anymore.

I endured that during a stint in Nashville. People would recognize me. Sometimes just from my voice, but more often from having seen me introducing a show, helping at the local Beg-A-Thon for PBS or from my photo on the Weekly Top-40 list the station published. It got old fast - especially for my wife (the girls could be pretty forward, even with her standing right there).

You have to really enjoy being the center of attention. What galls me is the big celebrities who complain about all the intrusion of their privacy... until you realize they pay a PR person to notify the press of their comings and goings.
