  1. I've been a train enthusiast all my life. I used to get ragged for it, but not any more.

Nowadays I enjoy my hobby and turn it to account. I work in a local train museum, showing people round and generally helping out.

I'm happy to be involved in helping to preserve Britain's rail Heritage.

  2. Me, too.

In our area in NY, new technology subway cars like R-142/R-143/R-160 is very clear and attractive.

Also, NJ Transit, Long Island and Metro-North Railroads, Staten Island Railway and SEPTA in Philly is also attractives.

Some Hudson-Bergen Lightrails in NJ are very colorful, well as River Line.

  3. Are you a guy or girl... Its easier for guys because trains are something guys should like, but being a girl it seems harder because trains arent really supposed to be liked by girls, if you get where im coming from... I love trains and all my friends understand but im still knda weird so it all depends, help me out with the question so i can help you out.

  4. Aestheically, Diesels here in the USA are NOT the most attractive thing... though some commuter and regional lines have VERY nice paint schemes (livery).  I particularly like that of the ACE and the Arizona line (?).

Diesel locomotives DO have an attractiveness from engineering and power points of view... sadly, they aren't often washed and get FILTHY out there working.

  5. yes,i like it.

  6. Yes, they are. You have leg space, you can move within the train, you can look aound into the landscape, you can sit on a table for lunch/dinner while moving.

All things you can´t do in a plane, a bus or in a car.

  7. I've always liked trains.I still get a thrill from running a train that has a lot of power. There's nothing sitting on top of 20,000 horsepower and winding it up to 70 mph.32 years as an engineer and i still love that feeling.

  8. I love to ride on trains.  We moved from Ft. Wayne, IN (via Chicago) to Houston, TX in 1950.  I believe it took three days.  Mom and three kids.  Dad drove a huge tractor trailer with all our possessions.

We have a train yard in our area where hobbyists are working on cars, but the money is not there and it may have to be abandoned.  I've ridden on them a few times.

From what I read lately, you are not alone.

  9. Yes - it's one of the few pieces of technology that connect the modern era to ancient times. The earliest railways existed in Greece circa 600 BC - more than two and a half thousand years ago. I find that incredible, not to mention extremely spooky. I am sure that railways will always hold a fascination for me until the day i die.

  10. um idk if i would say aractive but i love trains. and u said i go 2 ya skewl who r ya?

  11. Yes, especially steam trains those are the best ones. I've always dreamed of driving a 4-4-0 American engine in the Western Praries or a handsome, gleaming streamlined hudson engine of the New York Central.
