Do u get to choose your patner by your self?

If u are a cop, do u get to choose your own partner, wether u want a woman or man, and which one is better between those two.

Sometimes...  It depends on the department but usually they consider a group of people who are assigned the same car and have worked together before.

You get to choose your partner to a degree. on my dept we put 4-5 people on a car. They are responsible amongst themselves to ensure that at least one of them, preferably 2 are working each day to cover that district. Usually officers get together and decide who they want on their car. We comply with their wishes as long as they are reasonable. Sometimes their will be someone left over and they are placed on a car. I have worked squads with both male and female officers, I've enjoyed both. Has more to do with personality's and work styles. We work 10 hr days. That's a long time to be in a car with someone.

It is common to pair a senior officer with a newer officer, so they have the experience spread out, and the newer officers can learn from this experience.

There may be some limited selections for the senior people, but the newer officers will have little choice. The needs of the department will be considered first.

No, whoever is in charge will put you with who they think will be a good partner.  Someone who you can learn from and teach you things you need to know.
