Will IPL withstand or will its popularity fade away as it goes by?

  1. It definitely has the potential to. But the question is, can the cricketing world handle such a drastic focus from Country v country to a top league where it's teams made up of stars from all over the world.

    And then if it turned into the EPL or similar, would it just be Twenty20? Cause we have 2 other versions of the game that the fans still enjoy.

    But in saying all this I personally don't think that this series will get too much further than it is now as it would destroy the cricket as we know it, it would become like the EPL where your countries side doesn't play that much together. This would destroy a rather unique game.

    EDIT:

    And thinking about it, it could never turn into a league like the EPL because the Indians have a one eyed love of their own players even if there are more better players out there.


  2. Twenty20 cricket has already made its mark, roots from England (who initiated this type of cricket)

    We are not even a week into the first ever IPL season and at this stage questioning, whether IPL would turn out to be another EPL, I believe it is too early to make such a call...

    Tough  for IPL,coz there  are a few countries who can play

    cricket,a lot of them no nothing abt cricket

    IPL  is  here  to stay,it will be a success in India atleast

    Like  other European countries have their own soccer leagues,

    other cricketing nations like Aus,Eng,Pak,WI will  start their

    own leagues

    like the football leagues in Spain,Italy,......

Eventually, yes because cricket as we knew it was getting a little monotonous.How long could we watch 8 countries playing against each other all the time.I think, just like the EPL , there are going to be divisions.Moreover in a few years time, I expect similar a set up in Australia and England,just like the EPL and Spanish league
