  1. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease, that about 75% of sexually active women have.  There are several strains of the virus.  Some cause genital warts, others cause cervical cancer.

HPV is not the virus that causes herpes.  That is HSV

Both viruses can be contracted during pregnancy, but I have never heard the statistics of contracting it being any higher due to the pregnancy

  2. I havent heard its common in pregnant women.its common in over 50% of sexually active people, and you are tested for this at you first prenatal appointment, through your cervical screening, b/c unlikely but it can be passed to baby. Usually hpv clears on its own. Women 20-24 are at the highest percentage for hpv

  3. HPV is a virus that can cause cervical cancer.  No it isn't common in pregnant woman.  http://www.fda.gov/WOMENS/getthefacts/hp... has some info on it.

  4. It is a sexually transmitted virus, and it is not so much that it is common during pregnancy - in fact it is more common in the age group 16-26 more due to different sexual partners.

For the most part it has no symptons, although it is also the virus that is thought to greatly increase the risk of cervical cancer.

In Australia, we are now vacccinating for free in the 16-26 age group.

My sister recently was found to have Stage 3 pre-cancerous cervical cells and tested positive to HPV.

It is quite scary and all people should get themselves tested for it.

  5. HPV does not lead to herpes!!! Herpes simplex virus (HSV) causes herpes!!

MPV It stands for Human Papilloma Virus

HPV is actually the common wart virus - something like 70% of the population are carriers. It is the cause of genital warts too.

It is a very common virus. There are about 100 types of HPV that affect different parts of the body. About 30 types of HPV can affect the genitals — including the v***a, v****a, cervix, p***s, and s*****m — as well as the r****m and a**s. Of those, about 13 types are considered "high risk" for leading to cervical cancer.

It is not pregnancy related. But I guess there may be cases where pregnancy flares up the condition.

  6. I have it but they didnt say anything about it bein common in pregnant women it has somethin to do with multiple  sexual partners or your partner having slept with someone who has it and passes it to you. It can cause cervical cancer and  it cannot be passed to your children during delivery. It looks like cauliflour but cant be seen by the naked eye i hope i helped

  7. Human papillomavirus, put it into Wikipedia and read up.  It's a virus, STD.  Not caused by being pregnant, but lots of women have it and don't know.  I was tested for it when I was pregnant because my hospital was doing a research study on it, I was negative but they said lots of women are positive for it and have no idea they had it.
