  1. No... you can be majored in Creative Writing, Philosophy, Photography, whatever. It just matters how good you are at writing and what your resume looks like. Be sure to get great recommendations and come up with some great pieces. It's really all up to pure luck.


  2. No, contact your local newspapers/magazines and explain how much you enjoy fashion and writing and ask them if you can gain unpaid experience with them. I did this with my local paper (reviewing bands that came to town, they got the reviews and I got free tickts) and it is great for your portfolio. Good luck!
