Do u have to change the plasma in a plasma tv?

My freind kyle bought a plasma tv for his room but his parents told him to bring it back because every now and then you have to change the plasma in the tv and it costs like 300$$$$. is this true? if so where does he go to to get it done,how much it cost,and how often he should

  1. You can't "change" the plasma. When a plasma TV dies, it's trash. That's the drawback of plasma televisions. That's why some prefer an LCD TV. They have almost double the lifespan (about 100,000 hours vs. 50-60,000 hours for a plasma).

  3. Some people believe you have to re-gas a plasma TV but its impossible. You should expect upto 20 years from a decent plasma TV anyway so its not a big deal.

  4. There's a hook-up in the back that you can use to pump plasma out of your body.  It takes a couple hours.  I suppose you could always buy a jar at walmart, they probably have some.
