  1. Everybody has to pay one way or the other..  whether it's out of your pocket, through your company's plan, your private plan, or through taxes.  It isn't free.  It costs what it costs.

  2. Yes, you do.

  3. Yes.  Every time you see a physician there is at least a co pay involved if you have insurance.  If you do not have insurance, then the entire bill is your responsibility.

  4. Yes,

that is why good jobs offer insurance.

  5. We pay for insurance and the insurance pays for the checkups.  Sometimes a co-pay is involved, usually around $20.

  6. Yes, and if you don't have health insurance, it is very expensive. If you can't afford, they basically let us die.

  7. Yes. I have insurance. If I go to the doctor, I pay $25 and the insurance covers the rest. Regardless of it's a checkup, or whatever else. Emergency room visits, specialists, others are more $. If you can't afford it...you don't go.

  8. Yes

  9. Yes.  If you have insurance you normally only have to pay a co-pay which is a small percentage of what the office visit costs.  If you do not have insurance, most doctors will see you and then bill you or require a certain amount of money up front, sometimes even the full fee.  There are some free clinics but the lines are long and hard to get into.

  10. Of course, I don't go to work for free and they don't either.

Of course, we don't have socialized medicine and we don't pay half our income to the government either.  Some economic illiterates would call this "free" medicine.

****Each physician is free to set his own fee.  Some might charge as little as $45 for a visit while others over $100.

  11. No bubbles, president bush pays for it

Hey, what planet you come from ?

If you can't afford it, you don't do it

How much ? Whatever they want

  12. If you are poor enough for medicaid you don't have to pay - you don't get very good care, either.

  13. My MD charges $50 just to walk in the door and see the MD. if you can't afford it, you don't see the MD. that's why  people have to wait until a simple cough turns into pneumonia and go to the ER when then turns into a 10 hour wait and a $1000 bill (if you don't have to be admitted). I had to have a tooth pulled yesterday. It cost me $150.00 for 1 tooth to be pulled. If I took out private insurance with a $5000 deductible, it would cost me $800 a month (I only make $650 a month). Everyone here is so against universal health care because it will raise taxes. They are not looking from the point of the perspective of people like me who have to decide whether to pay rent or go to the MD. You are very lucky to live in a country that your govt actually cares enough about you to care for you. In the US if you don't have a job that offers insurance or you are not "rich " and can't afford you, you might as well die.

  14. you betchya!  if you purchase regular insurance, you are probably looking at about the same amount you pay for a car a month (350-400 dollars)...then on top of that they nail you for a "co-pay" at the office which depending on your insurance is an additional $10-$15.  If you do not have insurance then you probably wont be seen by a private practice doctor, you would have to go to a clinic and a clinic will charge you depending on what you have done but I bet it will be over $50.  If you can not afford it, then they may offer a payment plan first...if you just cant pay, then they will sick the credit hounds on you.

  15. Yes. If you have insurance then you still pay but less for an office visit. It's expensive. If you don't have insurance then it could cost you over $300 to see a doctor. Isn't that insane? Don't get sick. The poor cannot get sick. The hardworking middle income workers cannot afford to get sick. Isn't it funny how it's the poor and middle income workers that do get sick or are more likely to and for longer periods of time? It's their fault right for not working harder or smarter. You got more than what you asked from me. You don't get to see a doctor then. This is not the system that decent people want.
