No. Well not at Wachovia. My dad got it for me. You need birth certificate and at least $50 for their account.

You "load" a debit card with money.

You add 100 dollars you have 100 dollars on it.

they are available at supermarkets (Kroger) now with the gift cards.

go to rbs/revolve its a kids debit card 11-18(thats the youngest age for one) its free and has a really good interest and you can also pick a design to go on the card, i looked around for one a few months ago and this is the best. please rate my card designs https://revolvecard.rbs.co.uk/viewlibrar... and please answer my questions thanks hope it works

Shouldn't need to pay for a debit card.   You may have to pay $25 to establish a checking account.   But, it the bank wants to charge you, go to a different bank.   So many banks and credit unions have "free checking", that it would be silly to pay for this service.
