  3. No. Well not at Wachovia. My dad got it for me. You need birth certificate and at least $50 for their account.

    You "load" a debit card with money.

    You add 100 dollars you have 100 dollars on it.

    they are available at supermarkets (Kroger) now with the gift cards.

  6. Shouldn't need to pay for a debit card.   You may have to pay $25 to establish a checking account.   But, it the bank wants to charge you, go to a different bank.   So many banks and credit unions have "free checking", that it would be silly to pay for this service.
