Visit Kyrenia, its really is very nice. North Cyprus is a lovely place but a bit on the quite side so it will be very good if you want to relax. The people on the north are very nice, just like the people on the south. Visit Ayia Napa or Paphos if you get a chance.

The northern part of Cyprus belong to Turkey after they occupied Cyprus in 1974, if I remember correctly. Sure they may have some hotels there, but it´s not a well known tourist area.

I would choose the independent part of Cyprus, it´s quite a great island.

Only advice I can give is :-

Cut a sheet of clean paper the size of a passport page. Attach it to your passport with a paperclip. When you arrive let the immigration officer stamp it. After you leave destroy it.

Reason.

Simple, from a legal point of view there is no such place as North Cyprus. It is the part of Cyprus illegally occupied by the Turkish Army.

A North Cyprus stamp in your passport will bar you from entry to the rest of Cyprus, Greece as well, maybe elsewhere.
