I was cleaning my tub today, and realized that the edged feel a bit rough. I did spray on the cleaner I have. ITs a genric versiion of easy off bam, and the soap scum is caked on, so even if I did let it soak for a day and a half, the sides of my tub are still rough. I wonder if there are any other household cleaners that I could get at a retail store(preferrably walmart), which would help me with this problem. Any honest help would be appreicated, thanks. Please, no advice on being clean...as I'm slowly but surely working on it. thanks.

  1. I clean our bathtub and shower with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  It really gets rid of soap scum and hard water stains without harsh chemicals.

  2. Dow Bathroom Cleaner (with Scrubbing Bubbls)

    Magic Eraser

  3. hmmm--vinegar, huh-- will have to try that because for years I have been using comet. It works great but there is a bit of elbow grease involved

  4. ~~I love a great product I found for tile that just melts off soap scum too. It's called Bath Clean and is made by Fuller Brush. I order it from www.drugstore.com  It's not harmful to breathe and I don't ever even wear gloves with it. My tile has no build up on it now and just shines. It's great stuff!~~

  5. I use Scrubbing Bubbles or the cheap generic equivalent I buy at Dollar Tree.I'll have to try using vinegar. It sounds like a good idea.

  6. The best way I've found to deal with most cleaning problems (Including soap scum and hard water stains) also happens to be the cheapest...

    Vinegar.

Buy a gallon or white vinegar and a spray bottle - should cost you less than 5 bucks.

Use pure vinegar (don't dilute!) and spray it on the soap scum. And let ti sit for about 5 minutes. Since yours is a bit worse than the normal soap scum - keep misting it. The acid in the vinegar will disolve all the nasties and it will wipe away easily.

Also - what kind of water do you have? If you have hard water - you'll get more "soap scum" than average. Rinsing the tub with a soft water after use can really help keep it away.
