  1. Sarahs dad is 60 -24 = 36 her age and her daughter is 4 making 100. 60+36 = 96+ 4 = 100.

  2. Sarah is 24 years younger than her dad and 35 years older than her daughter, Cassie, together their ages add up to 100

    how old is each person?

    There are three persons - Sarah, Sarah's daughter and

    Sarah's dad. If you note the given conditions carefully you will find that Sarah is the central person. Her age has been related with age of her dad and that of her daughter. In such cases you must assume the age of the central  person ( make it a thumb rule ).

    For convenience let me denote Sarah by S, her dad by F and her daughter by   D.

    Now first condition says that  S is 24 yrs younger than F. It means that the difference in the age of S and F is 24 yrs.  Now frame an eqn. keeping in mind that S cannot be older than F.

    ie  F - S = 24 ............. (1)

    Second condition says that  S is 35 years older that her daughter. That is their difference of age is 35.

    ie  S - D = 35 .................... (2)

    Third condition says that their age add up to 100

    ie  D + S + F = 100  .......... (3)

    Now Add eqns (1) and (2). you ill get-

    F-D = 59 ............. (4)

    => F = D + 59

    From (3) we know that   (F + D) = (100 - S) .......... (5)

    and from (2) we have S = ( 35 + D ). Substitute this value of S in eqn (5). You will get

    F + D = [ 100 - ( 35 + D ) ]

    =>  F + 2D = 65 .............. (6).

    Now from eqns (4) and (6) we get -

    D = 2 yrs......................... Answer

    Now substitute the value of D in eqn (4). You get-

    F = 61 yrs...................... Answer

    Again from eqn (3) we get-

    S = 37 yrs..................... Answer

    Hence age of -

    Daughter = 2 yrs

    Sarah = 37 yrs, and

    Dad = 61 yrs.

  3. Sarah is 37, Cassie is 2 and Sarah's father is 61.

    37+2+61=100

    37+24=61

    37-35=2

  4. d, d-24 + d-59 = 100

    3d-83=100

    3d=183

    3/183=61

    dad=61, sahara 61-24=37, cassie 37-35=2

    61+37+2=100

  5. Let S be Sarah

          D be Dad,

    and C be Cassie.

    S+24 = D ----(1)

    S-35 = C-----(2)

    S+D+C = 100---(3)

    Sub (1) and (2) into (3)

    S+S+24+S-35 = 100

    S=37 ---(4)

    Sub (4) back into (1) and (2)

    S+24=D

    D = 61

    S-35 = C

    C = 2
