  1. Spy Emergency....DUMP IT .... WHY HAVE THAT RUNNING WHEN KAS. HAS ALL COVERED ... PLUS ITS JUNK ANYWAYS ....................

  2. Yes. It is recommended that you have a anti-spyware running along with Anti-virus. However, using a Internet security suite should cover anti-spyware as a part of the suite and need not run both on real time scans. This is because both will inject a low level filter driver which will take control of any file/ memory access and using 2 products from different companies can cause contention and will slow the performance of the system.

In order to be sure that your machine does not get infected take the follwing steps

    1. Ensure that your Anti Virus product is updated regularly (mostly daily)

    2. Ensure that you run a full scan at least once a week (usually during idle times as this might take  an hour or so based on the speed of the system and the data on the hdd).

    3. if you are concerned about spyware then run antispyware scans once a week but leave the real time protection off.

  3. I run Avast, Threatfire, Spyware Doctor Free Edition Basic, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spybot S&D, and a few other security programs with no problems whatsoever.

Only ever have ONE antivirus and ONE realtime antispyware running to avoid conflicts.

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Download, install, update and select Quick Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition - Realtime monitoring:

    http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst...

Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

SnoopFree Privacy Shield which  is not another scanner product.  It's a powerful shield that guards your keyboard, screen and open windows from all  spy software.  The way it works makes it  virtually impossible for any spy program to work on your computer:

KeyScrambler which encrypts everything that you type in including credit card numbers etc.

    http://www.download.com/KeyScrambler-Per...

Works on most browsers, email clients and IM programs, and it's free.

    How to use:

I also use a sandbox for ALL surfing and program exexcution, which basically makes my malware protection pretty redundant, although with testing various malware I do get the alerts that I need to ensure that programs do as they should.

  4. no i usually shut down all program and disconnect from the internet and do one scan at a time that way it can scan every thing better
