Do u need to repent if u harm an animal?

well basically there was this mouse in between my mum's slippers and its already dead, cos i mean its eyes where shut, and i put on some gloves and stroked the lil guys head to see if it was living, so umm yea then she got the broom, :( and wacked it even more.

now we have a dead mouse in the passage, and my mum killed it even more :( , i'm gonna go bury it :( i can't stand the site of putting it in the bin :''''(

well it was dead anyway. she didnt kill it or harm it. i dont exactly know about the ruling when the animal is dead. but when its alive you should treat it with respect.

i know "muslims" who have gone to hajj and they treat animals badly. for example one person inparticular cant stand female cats as they tend to have lots of kittens and this person hits the cat. i even saw this person (wont name them) kick the cat against the wall and they are meant to have gone to hajj??? what on earth. was very upsetting to see and have to say i think i prefer the cat then this person. i keep telling her its haram and she doesnt care she justifies her actions by her hate of female cats??? OMG!!!!! OMA!!!!

it seems like an accident to me not "on purpose harm!"

so, in your case u don't need to repent as it's just an accident

but, in general, harming animals on purpose in HARAM in Islam and it's a big sin.. On the other hand, helping animals is a very good deed in Islam with great reward from Allah SWT..

Narrated Abu Huraira:  "The Prophet said, 'A man saw a dog eating mud from (the severity of) thirst. So, that man took a shoe (and filled it) with water and kept on pouring the water for the dog till it quenched its thirst. So Allah approved of his deed and made him to enter Paradise.'  (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Ablutions (Wudu'), Volume 1, Book 4, Number 174)"

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:  "The Prophet said, 'A woman entered the (h**l) Fire because of a cat which she had tied, neither giving it food nor setting it free to eat from the vermin of the earth.'  (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Beginning of Creation, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 535)"

That's so sad. Why would anyone want to harm a defenceless little mouse?

Being cruel to animals is like being cruel to children, defenceless organisms.

Anyone who is cruel to animals should put their face in acid.

Awww... I'm glad your going to bury it! I would bury it also! Teach your mom some compassion for animals :P I used to feed the mice in our hold house :P She should feel sad for what she did indeed !i
