  1. To teach at the K-12 level, you usually need only a bachelor's degree to start, but many systems now require their teachers to earn a master's degree or the equivalent in credits within a certain time.  Some systems may even still hire teachers with less than the bachelor's degree at the elementary level, but these teachers would definitely be expected to earn the bachelor's if they hope to remain employed.

At the college level, you would need at least a master's to start.  More and more colleges and universities are now requiring a completed doctorate, especially for any tenure-track position.

  2. While a Masters Degree will certainly improve your position in the job hunt, it is by no means necessary to obtain a teaching position below the college level.  A professorship will be much harder to come by without a graduate degree.

  3. You do not need your Masters Degree to teach.

A Bachelors Degree and a teaching certification is all you need.

  4. You do not need a Masters. You need a Bachelors degree and a teaching certificate (which requires passing a few standardized tests). A Masters is a good idea as it increases your teaching skills and it usually comes with a salary increase. I would suggest getting you Bachelors and Certificate, along with a few years of experience before tackling a Bachelors.

  5. No, it does help though.

  6. Yes, you can. You don't need you master's.

  7. No MA needed....but teacher's put in a 5th year of school....to get the certificate.
