It's not more important, but to me more entertaining. I enjoy the Some of the Olympic event though.

i would say that it is. Even in America. Olympic rating were down this year and the only thing that captured any attention in the states was Mike Phelps. I think the Olympics should only consist of games that are not judged at all their is a clear cut winner that is not awarded points by judges.

Yes of course... the FIFA world cup is played during one month and the Olympics 15 days! And also in the world cup you have more and less about 12 new stadiums constructed for that competition, with at least place for 40 000 people. And the biggest have place for about 70 000 people!

Another difference is that you never hear talking about the olympics, but you here about the two previous years before the world cup!

And of course, in continents like Europe, or South America, the World Cup is much more famous and popular!

Of course not, there are only what 32 teams that can compete in the World Cup? Whereas over 200 countries compete in the Olympics? Should be pretty easy to figure out...

Definitely not in the USA, where the Olympics are watched by tens of millions, rather than the millions watching World Cup football/soccer.  If you ask an average American about football, the answer won't be about the sport with goalies and a round ball.

In most of Europe and Latin America, I would suspect that the World Cup is more popular.  This is not a knock on the Olympics or on other sports, but normal activity seems to stop during the World Cup in those places.

Given China's breadth of talent in many of the Olympic sports, it's likely that the Olympics are more popular there as well.  My guess is that this is the case in Russia as well.

What about India, which just had its first ever individual Olympic gold medalist?  The only time I hear anything about sports in India, a pretty rare occurrence in the USA, it's about cricket.

its hard to compare the two because they are scheduled two years apart for obious reasons. however im more of a football freak so i love the world cup in comparison to the olympics so i guess if you have an interest in football ud opt for the world cup..depends on the person really..but i think the olympics is more popular purely for its variety.

nothing else in the world can bring more people from different regions  and celebrate then the FIFA world cup, so YES world cup is more popular.
