I used to think like that, but i realised that it means you don't respect yourself enough to believe others do & decided to change my way of thinking, i'm as good as anyone else, so i should believe it.

Yeah! that's a good way to word it too!

i have trouble taking complements because i never seem to believe they're genuine.  

i'd rather have someone say something negative that they mean than something positive that they don't.
