  1. Yes, it would teach them responsibility and help them mature more before entering the work force. It would also teach our youth how to use proper manners & respect for others

  2. No, I don't think that would work. As Americans we have enjoyed too much freedom and there are only certain individuals who are cut out for military service. It would cost way to much to try to train people who are being forced to be in the military. In short, bad idea.

  3. yes well becoz then they will get an idea of how 2 protect the country and be safe and fight against terrorists....'

  4. Um... no. It's against some religions to engage in anything that promotes any war effort and also against some people's moral beliefs (ie: my own).

Now, I'm more willing to compromise of course. I wouldn't mind doing service around the states and such.

Also, I think we should be given a choice. Either we do the compulsory service or find our own that is deemed acceptable replacement "service" like volunteer work at a hospital or something. (We deserve a choice).

Then you have to ask: whats the punishment for not doing the service?

Compulsory service is a scary thought to me... reminds me of fascism.

One last thing: i think it would overstep the normal bounds of government to make it mandatory. What is the government? Ideally, the government really isn't a person or organization. It should have as little to do with my life as possible. In that regard, i'm kinda libertarian. If people don't want to serve, then watever. That's why, instead of being mandatory, i think it should come along with rewards (which it sometimes does, but they don't seem good enough considering the worst scenario: death fighting an enemy you really don't even know).

  5. It would get a lot youth out of trouble and help put them on the right track and also the Americal Government will have a resource to call up on if need be....

Singapore has compulsory training....and it is also a very safe country....

  6. Yes, I would think so, but many not even suitable for such service because of problems with the individuals.
