It's cute as it is but you could always use a longer version, so the child has a choice.

it's a cute nickname, but I believe there should be a more formal name on the birth certificate.  and it'd be nice if she could put cassandra on college applications and resumes.

As a child given a nickname at birth "Angie", I would have much preferred to have the name Angela. It is still difficult to answer any forms or questions requesting my name they always assume my real name is Angela. It was also difficult as I really didn't have a nickname, as my given name *was* a nickname.
